A protocol signed between Italian Department of Agriculture and eBay

Foto-2_portaleOn March 23rd 2015, at Mipaaf area within Vinitaly (Veronafiere, March 22nd to 25th, 2015), an agreement protocol was signed for the creation of promotional activities aimed at the enhancement, information and protection of products in the wine sector on the online platform eBay.
The document was signed by Minister Maurizio Martina; Andrea Moretti, responsible person of legal business at eBay; Riccardo Ricci Curbastro, President of the National Confederation of voluntary consortia for the protection of the designations of Italian wines (Federdoc); and Stefano Vaccari, Chief of the Department of the Central Inspectorate for Quality protection and Prevention of Frauds in alimentary products (Dipartimento dell’Ispettorato centrale della tutela della qualità e della repressione frodi dei prodotti agroalimentari – Icqrf). With this protocol, eBay is committed to remove the ads when violations concerning DOP and IGP wines are verified. In addition, the Inspectorate repression fraud actuates the ex officio protection procedures throughout the European Union for blocking the marketing of the so detected products.
Minister Martina said: “Today’s signature is an important part of the strategy we have started in order to protect the unique heritage of Made in Italy. With great pride I want to emphasize that we are the only Country in the world which signed such an agreement with such an online platform as eBay, with 800 million advertisements in the world“.
