Grape Preparers hired by Champagne Louis Roederer

Marco Simonit (photo) and his team of Grape Preparers were hired in Reims by Champagne Louis Roederer. The legendary French winery has sought the advice of this dynamic and innovative Italian group – the only specialized, accredited and structured at European level for the training of the personnel in charge of manual pruning of the vines – to improve the pruning methods adopted for centuries in Champagne, which are showing both limits and problems. They hired Grape Preparers for the training, both theoretical and practical, of their pruners. Nowadays about thirty important European wineries located in France, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, have entrusted their vineyards to mentoring of Grape Preparers. The first one to hire Grape Preparers in France was the renowned scholar Denis Dubourdieu, Enology professor and director at ISVV – Istitut des Sciences de la vigne et du vin, at the University of Bordeaux, who identified this group of Italian specialists as the best consultants at international level able to face the current and pressing issue of vineyard decay and reduced output, with high direct and indirect costs that this entails.
